Houston Public Media was established in 2013, bringing together Houston's NPR, PBS and classical stations.
The web team was tasked with bringing the content from those three stations' sites under one modernized digital roof. I headed up information architecture and wire framing, as well as several rounds of design creation and iteration.
I led the user testing initiative while the new HPM site was in beta. Our in-depth survey gathered data on a diverse set of more than 200 users. I then worked with station leadership to develop action items to improve the site based on what we learned from the study.
Where the previous three sites focused on program promotion, the new site emphasized content – we focused on creating reading and discovery experiences.
