Highclere Tea

Visual identity, design, event logistics and visual ambiance for a high-level donor cultivation event for Houston Public Media.

During the height of Downton Abbey Fever, Houston Public Media arranged an event with Lady Canarvon, who lives at Highclere Castle (where Downton was filmed).

The event was unlike any other the station had done, which meant it needed special treatment. I led design for the event: establishing a look for the event, creating numerous promotional items (print and digital) and making collateral for the event (e.g. posters, placards and nametags – the latter two I cut out by hand for a few hundred attendees). I even assisted our development team with event logistics, such as making sure items were mailed on time and checking in guests of note.

The design for paper goods, such as the above invitations, was inspired by textile patterns from the Gilded Age, as well as British tea tin packaging.

The project entailed considering budget and price for each item, working with several different vendors, as well as collaborating across departments to make sure their teams' specific needs were met.
