KPCC investigative reporters worked with the product team to bring a major underlying factor of family homelessness in Southern California to light.
I headed up UX and design for the digital presentation of "Broke." The project included audio, photos and a series of infographics to report on the state's failure to support families that had fallen prey to the rapidly rising cost of living.
The piece encouraged visitors to go beyond reading the article by getting involved in their community. It included a new tool to help users look up and contact their state representatives.
Responsive graphs played a major role in showing just how dire the situation has become for at-risk families in Southern California.
